Experience and Education
I became interested in birth after attending the birth of my best friend's son, Ewan. Then attending Grand Valley State University, I was able to take a deep and critical look at birth models using my Women and Gender Studies coursework. The midwifery model of care really jived with my emerging philosophies on birth, and becoming a doula seemed like a logical first step. After attending a DONA approved Birth Doula Workshop, I began interning as an online community manager with the Midwives Alliance of North America, which brought me to an opportunity to study midwifery at a women's clinic in Guatemala. |
